The look and feel of Highland Pipes but substantially quieter. Great for practice when you want that full pipe sound and ideal for playing with other instruments.
My Scottish Wee Pipes feature three drones; bass and two tenors in individual stocks. The drones stand over the left shoulder-just like big pipes. The profiling is the antique design with challis, or wine glass drone tops. On the top of each drone is a cap turned of a complimentary colored hard wood. The chanter is parallel bored, tapered at the bottom, and plays the mixolydian scale using standard highland fingering. Finger holes, as with all my pipes, are countersunk for easier playing. Additionally, the upper natural 7th and sharp 7th are both available. I can supply the chanter using open fingering if preferred. The hand stitched leather bag is of the modern style and comes with a custom velvet cover. (pictured here without the cover)

The set pictured is turned in Cocobolo with Yew mounts and has an acrylic-lined, horn-tipped blow stick (see cocobolo notes). This set can also be had in Ebony and various hardwoods and with other choices of mounts. You can also have full mounts if desired. The three drones provide a full, rich background for the chanter. The volume is perfect for playing with other acoustic instruments making them ideal for your next jam at the pub. The Scottish Wee Pipes are available in the Keys of A, Bb, C, and D. Pitched at A=440. A cloth carry bag, velvet bag cover & matching cords, and note chart are also included.
